How can you know me?

How do I define who I am? By my job? No. By the way I dress? Not really. By the way I speak? I can’t help that. If you want to know who I am, then what do you look at?

My wonderful books

My wonderful books

This is how you will know my heart and soul. This is how I define myself. By the books that I read. The books that I love. The books that sit proudly on my bookshelf. Books can have such a huge impact on a person’s life: they can mould you and help shape you, make you think, ponder, laugh and even cry. And that influence cannot help but become absorbed into you. people who read lead a much richer life than those that don’t. They get to go on amazing journeys; make hundreds of friends; have interesting debates; live in different times and different places. The list of joy is endless.

You may look at my clothes; my hair; my usually non-make-up’d face – all that will tell you is that I am too busy to look immaculate. You see a snapshot of a me in that time and place, that one moment only. The way I speak tells you how I was brought up, not who I am. My job tells you what I do to pay the bills, not what my life is about. So you want to know how to define me? To know all about me? Then – come, peruse my wonderful bookshelf.

    • Everyone should love books! It never fails to amaze me when someone tells me they ‘don’t read’… I can’t help but think how much they’re missing out on.

  4. You have a lot books! My goodness! That’s an impressive mark. Well, what defines me are my artworks. Now I have to ask: do you revisit some of this books by way of rereading them because you like their content?

    • Oh yes! Some not for years, but that’s becuase they are indelibly imprinted in my mind. They are old friends… I like to visit and chat with them every so often πŸ™‚ but there are so many books that I have not read… I have to carefully balance making new friends and keeping the old ones!
Also, I like lending out my books to others – it gives me real pleasure to spread the reading experience.
