Evil Reflections

Another old one – this one I wrote at 17.

In the depth of night
No moon shows
The stars are hiding
I hear the bell toll.

Everywhere quiet,
Noise is a sin
The Huntress is hunting tonight
The blood scent is keen.

She glides with silent feet
The darkness her cloak
And though I stand oh so quiet-
I feel her knife at my throat.

Her eyes blaze with triumph
Evil beauty springs to life
I look down into the river-
The Huntress – myself.

I am hunting the evil:
It has begun within
And only my Huntress
Can save me from sin.

  2. I am impressed that you wrote this at all—and amazed that you were just 17 years of age (not that age matters in any way, though). Can you explain your gift? Or are you just grateful?

    • Aw, bless you! Gift? – Anyone can write, it’s a matter of wanting to! I’m certainly no Keats – now there was a gifted man! To write the poetry he did before the age of 25 (he died at 24) is awesome – I am in love with the man – well, his memory, lol!
Writing has always been my expression – I’ve never known how else to vent my emotions effectively/appropriately. During my teenage years, writing, especially poetry, was my saviour.
And I’ve carried the love of writing through my whole life… maybe one day I’ll ‘write that book’ that I’ve always meant to… 🙂
