Spirituality, Passion and Poetry

For me, writing poetry has mainly been about expressing my emotions. A way of letting out such energy that does not know how else to be released. However, having browsed the blogosphere, I’ve discovered all types of blogs that have made me think about all sorts of things: my beliefs, my passions, my opinions, the way I think about things.

For all you Spiritual types out there – thank you for sharing your selves on blog. It has made me think about my own Spirituality – which is very strong, but I have never expressed this in my poems. Now, I feel the desire and need to do so. I think I have shied away from anything ‘personal’, in fear of alienating anyone. But that’s the point isn’t it? It shouldn’t matter: If someone does not like something, well, I have been true to myself, and that is far more important.

My personal beliefs should, really, play a stronger role in my poetry, or creative writing – whichever form it chooses to express itself. I want to meld my passions, all the parts and aspects of me – into one. So all that makes me ME should be expressed in my writing. Also, this may then interest those that I like to follow: if they’re not normally poetry people, a poem about something they are interested in, (in this case, Spirituality)will be like a ‘return of favour’; a ‘thank you’, if you will, for all their (your!) lovely blogs.

Poetry, and creative writing, is a powerful tool; it evokes the sense; thoughts, feelings and emotions. It should be carefully thought on; carefully crafted; carefully nourished. And this is why I love it – the form of expression, when done right, can be so powerful, and it says much about the person who has written it, and also evokes different things in different people.

I also have a strong interest in Goddesses: they are so diverse, so beautiful and powerful, their different characters and traits and dominions – and as yetIi have not discovered a blog site dedicated to them. Perhaps a homage is due to cultural Mothers!

So thank you, bloggers, for making me think. And be ready for a different type of poetry from me (though they may take some time to craft!)

Blessings be.
