On Electricreativity…

So I have categorised ‘Electricreativity’ as a poem. Is it? Some may say it’s not – what rules does it follow? It’s not traditional. The form is all over the place. It is not one thing nor another.

Yet I wrote it as a poem. I wrote it, very much like (and yes, pretty much at the same time as) ‘Kairos’; I wrote it as free-form as I could, allowing my feelings and imagination to flow out without the need for conscious rationalisation. But whereas ‘Kairos’ is very definitely poetic prose, ‘Electricreativity’ is a hybrid of poetic prose and a poem. Yet it has a rhythm, a melody in the mind – to me, it is a poem.So it doesn’t have versus. So the rhymes are in the middle of sentences rather than the end. So the sentences aren’t structured – it’s meant to be that way, to add to the feeling, the ambience, if you will, of the piece.

This poem is an expression and interpretation of my feelings after having read ‘The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test’ and the inspiration that book gave me in wanting to write again (thank you so much, Tom Wolfe!)

So maybe it does not follow tradition. Maybe it is strange and, possibly, uncategorisable. But it is also my expression, my way of writing, and my joy.
